I hear it all the time. “I just can’t seem to find the time.” Well the last time I checked, time was not hiding. As the saying goes, we have as many hours in the day as Beyonce. So why do so many of us struggle with finding the time to do things that will get us closer to achieving success? I’ll tell you why. Because most of us are Time Wasters.
That’s right, Time Wasters. A Time Waster is someone who complains about not having enough time. But, when you ask them about the latest Love & Hip Hop:Atlanta episode they rant and rave about the Puerto Rican Princess and the Rat King along with how Kirk is wrong for having that baby with ‘ol girl. (I think I may have just given myself away). But I digress.
Now there is nothing wrong with watching your favorite t.v. show or drama series for self-care purposes, but the problem comes when you say that you really want something but in the same breath say that you just can’t find the time to do it. There is a disconnect. Either you want it or you don’t.
One of the most valuable things that we have is time. And how we spend our time not only shows us where our values lie, but can determine our success in life. So instead of being preachy to you on how much of a time waster you may or may not be, I’m going to present to you a challenge.
This week I want you to pick a day and write down everything that you do hour by hour. From the time you wake up, to the time you go to bed. Then reflect over this schedule and determine if each thing you did was either productive or added value to your life. And to make it easy for you I’ve created a time audit sheet to help you write everything down.
If you’re really up for a challenge, do this time audit for a full week.
Let me know how this time audit challenge works for!
Until next time,
